XBF Daily: March Games With Gold
March is looking like a solid month for Xbox Live Gold members getting several well received games on the Games with Gold program. First up on the Xbox One we get the excellent Sherlock Holmes Crime and Punishment from March the 1st up till March 16th. Following on from that we get the Dark Souls inspired, Action-RPG Murder fest Lords of the Fallen. Both games were well received on launch and represent some excellent value to Gold Subscribers and should keep gamers who forsake The Division going for another month.
Sherlock Holmes Crime and Punishment takes place in it’s traditional Doyle London setting in 1894 and 1895. In typical Sherlock Holmes fashion Crime and Punishment centres around finding the right culprit and making the moral choice of absolving or condemning them. The game is split into six cases of murders, disappearances and thefts that will be instantly familiar to any fans of the TV series or the great man’s books.
Lords of the Fallen is another solid title and very much inspired by the incredible Dark Souls series. players journey through mysterious, interconnected environments, battling beastly, disfigured enemies, including bosses, using melee weapons, such as axes and hammers. Players control Harkyn as he is sent on a mission to stop a powerful god’s mysterious demonic forces as they invade the world to reclaim it after being dethroned. In typical RPG fashion everything is based around the XP earned in combat and spending that XP wisely on upgrades is the key to success. There are some nifty multiplier mechanics in the game that reward players for taking risks with combos and not dying. Reviews are largely positive with the game scoring 7/10 on many review sites so not at all bad for a freebie.
360 gamers or fans of the Backwards Compatibility system get Supreme Commander 2 from March 10-15 and the original Borderlands will be available for download on March 16 until April 15, but it won’t include any of the DLC.
I might give Borderlands another go once I’ve demolished The Division of course
